Friday Rosary

The rosary is one of the most powerful prayers in existence, and the Friday Rosary is no exception. Friday Rosaries have been shown to help people with a variety of needs, including health problems and other struggles! This blog post will show you how to pray the holy rosary Friday and what this prayer can do good for you and your loved ones.

Friday Rosary

The Sorrowful Mysteries are prayed on a Friday (as well as on Tuesday rosary). Why is it called "sorrowful"? The word sorrow comes from Latin “tristis” meaning sad or unhappy. Jesus' last hours were a time of suffering and agony. The five sorrowful mysteries that are prayed on Friday are:

- Agony in the Garden

- Scourging at the Pillar

- Crowning with Thorns

- Carrying of Jesus' Cross to Calvary and finally,

- Death on the Cross

These five images capture Jesus Christ's suffering.

How To Pray the Friday Rosary

Place both hands together at chest level. Begin by making the

Sign of the Cross:  In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Take the Cross of the Rosary in your Hand and start praying.

Step One:

Recite the Apostle's Creed while holding the cross of the rosary.

The Apostles Creed (I believe)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

Step Two:

Move on from bead to bead, as follows: One Our Father for the first (bigger) bead.

Our Father

Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Step Three:

Hail Mary

The next 3 beads pray 3 times Hail Mary:

Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.

for an increase in the virtues of faith (1), hope (2) and love (3)

Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen.

Step Four:

Glory be

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Step Five:

Pray the first mystery of the sorrowful mysteries. Recite five decades (ten Hail Marys) while meditating on each mystery as outlined above.

1. Jesus sweats blood in the garden

Our Father...

Say 10 Hail Marys Say at each bead while meditating on the Mystery. At the end of each decade:

Glory be...

Fatima Prayer

O My Jesus, forgive us our sins, save us from the fires of Hell, and lead all souls to Heaven, especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy.

2. Jesus is badly beaten at the Pillar

Our Father...

10 Hail Mary while meditating on the mystery number two

Glory be...

Fatima Prayer: O My Jesus, forgive us our sins...

3. Jesus was crowned with thorns

Our Father...

10 Hail Mary while meditating on the mystery number three

Glory be...

Fatima Prayer: O My Jesus...

4. Jesus was given a heavy cross to carry

Our Father...

10 Hail Mary

Glory be...

Fatima Prayer: O My Jesus...

5. Jesus died on the cross

Our Father...

10 Hail Marys

Glory be...

Fatima Prayer: O My Jesus...

Concluding Prayer of holy rosary Friday

After all 5 decades of the rosary have been prayed, say this prayer:

Hail Holy Queen

Hail Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our Life, our Sweetness, and our hope. To thee we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn then most gracious advocate, Thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us, the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us O Holy Mother of God, That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

Final Prayer

Let us pray. O God, whose only begotten Son, by His life, death, and resurrection, has purchased for us the rewards of eternal life, grant, we beseech Thee, that meditating upon these mysteries of the Most Holy Rosary of the Blessed Virgin Mary, we may imitate what they contain and obtain what they promise, through the same Christ Our Lord. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
