Wednesday Rosary

Wednesday Rosary

The Rosary is a beautiful and powerful praying tool. It is a Catholic tradition that has been around for centuries used to praise and honor Jesus. The idea behind a Rosary is to pray through the Virgin Mary, Jesus’ holy Queen Mother, also known as Our Lady. She has always been there with her son during his life on earth. This blog post will give you an overview of what a Wednesday Rosary entails and how you can benefit and use it to become closer to Jesus Christ.

What is a Rosary and what are the beads for

A rosary is a string of beads used to count prayers and meditations. The word “rosary” comes from the Latin word for dew, which is rosarium. It is said in the order, with five sets of ten ‘Hail Marys’ and one ‘Glory Be to the Father’, which equals 50 prayers altogether.

Every day of the week is assigned a mystery to focus on. The Joyful Mysteries (Monday and Thursday), The Sorrowful Mysteries (Tuesday and Friday), and the Glorious Mysteries (Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday). Each mystery is divided into sets of five. The holy Wednesday Rosary is traditionally prayed on Wednesdays, as well as other holy days.

The rosary is a powerful prayer tool. It can be used for the most mundane situations or in times of great need. No matter what you’re going through, it’s always good to know to such power in your back pocket.

How to pray the holy Wednesday Rosary

Begin by praying the Sign of the Cross.

Sign of the Cross

In the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.

Recite the Apostle’s Creed while holding the cross of the rosary.

The Apostles Creed (I believe)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of Heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son Our Lord. Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into Hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into Heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.

After praying the Apostles Creed advance to the next bead. While holding it with two fingers, pray Our Father.

Our Father

Who art in heaven, Hallowed be Thy Name. Thy Kingdom come. Thy Will be done, on earth as it is in Heaven. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass against us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. Amen.

Pick up the next three beads and, for each bead, say a Hail Mary.

Hail Mary

1) Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.

for an increase in the virtues of faith.

Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death Amen.

2) Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.

for an increase in the virtues of hope.

3) Hail Mary full of Grace, the Lord is with thee. Blessed are thou among women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus.

for an increase in the virtues of love.

End the opening praying part with one Glory be.

Glory Be

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end.

Then continue with the first of 5 decades of the Joyful Mystery.

The five decades of Joyful Mystery on Wednesday Rosary

The five mysteries which are prayed on Wednesday are:

  • Annunciation
  • Visitation
  • Nativity of Jesus Christ
  • Presentation of Jesus in the Temple and finally
  • Resurrection.

Pray the first mystery by reciting 10 Hail Mary while meditating on it. At the end of each decade pray a Glory be and close the decade with the Fatima Prayer.

Fatima Prayer

O my Jesus, forgive us our sins and save us from the fires of Hell. Lead all souls to Heaven especially those who are in most need of Thy mercy. Amen.

Next 4 decades

Repeat all prayers for all remaining joyful mysteries in the same way.

  • 10 Hail Mary
  • Glory be

Repeat this until you have said the Rosary through once. At the end pray you can conclude with the following prayer:

Hail Holy Queen

Hail holy Queen, mother of mercy; our life, our sweetness, and our hope. To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this vale of tears. Turn, then, most gracious advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us. And after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God, that we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

St. Michael the Archangel, defend us in battle, be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil. May God rebuke him we humbly pray; and do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly host, by the power of God, cast into hell Satan and all the evil spirits who prowl about the world seeking the ruin of souls. Amen.

Silent vs vocalization prayer

There are two forms of the rosary. One is vocalized and the other is silent. Which form is used depends on the situation and the person’s preference.

Silent prayer is called mental prayer where one uses meditation on the mysteries or other Holy Scripture texts while avoiding vocalization (praying aloud). Still another form of silent prayer includes contemplative methods such as mindfulness which cultivates spiritual attention without relying upon words.

Vocalized prayer has the advantage of involving the whole person including mind, body, and spirit. A vocalized prayer is not only an expression of what one knows to be true about God but also a proclamation that this truth applies to others as well.

Benefits of (Wednesday) Rosary

There are many benefits to praying with a rosary, including but not limited to mental clarity, peace in your home. It gives also strength during trial times, can close wounds, and provide joy in prayer through love. It is not a coincidence that people who suffer from mental disorders often find comfort in reciting the rosary. As it calms their thoughts and helps them focus on God’s word instead of fear or anger with themselves or others. Other main benefits are:

Mental Clarity

Whether it be by saying prayers or just reflecting on them while handling the beads, this simple activity allows for us to set aside time for ourselves and focus solely on what we’re doing. The repetitive nature of the Focusing Prayer helps calm our minds down. It gives us reassurance that everything will work out as long as we keep faith in God. This feeling of peace can be transferred to the home, as we come back from work or our day and focus on reciting prayers such as the rosary.

Helping the Departed

the rosary is a way for us to remember those who have gone before, including the saints. It is a form of communion that allows us not only to pray with God but also for others. Prayers help the souls in Purgatory. Praying for the dead not only shows our support, but as a result can also shorten their time of Purgatory.

Healing

The beads of a rosary contain many small parts that are constantly being touched by fingers. It is not surprising then that this simple act has been found to trigger healing processes.

How can such an object so tiny bring about these positive changes? It’s all thanks to the power of the Holy Spirit and God the Father Almighty! With the precious help of Jesus holy Mary Mother.

When is the best time to pray the Rosary?

This prayer was traditionally used in times gone past as a way for Catholics to pray without distractions such as work or public duties. Also while attending church services on Sunday morning Mass. However, it can be prayed at any time that fits into your schedule!

The best time to pray is at afternoon 3 pm or at night before bed or during a quiet moment when we can be free from distractions. In silence, God may better hear our prayers and make them more effective with his help!

Conclusion

Praying the wednesday rosary is a powerful and proven spiritual way to bring peace, tranquility, healing, and strengthening within oneself. Which in turn radiates outwardly for others and brings benefits to them. A rosary can be carried easily and helps us stop worrying about worldly affairs by focusing on spiritual things. It increases our prayer life with God through meditation.

We encourage people to pray the rosary daily and the holy rosary wednesday on Wednesday, Saturday and Sunday! I hope you find this article helpful and informative. God bless you!
